Position Summary

The Processor is responsible for ensuring the uniform preparation of wet food product to be distributed to stores/units upon order. This position is also responsible for preparing the ingredients for the seasoning process. The Processor performs proper storage of food items, monitors stock levels, and takes on additional warehouse tasks as they arise.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to prepare, count, and portion food items according to Uncle Remus SFC guidelines.
  • Ability to meet time constraints and accuracy in prepping, packaging, labeling, and storing wet and frozen food items. 
  • Assume 100% responsibility for the preparation and accurate processing of wet and frozen food items.
  • Assists distribution center team members/drivers in loading, off-loading, and receiving DC inventory items. 
  • Operates DC equipment (forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, scissor lift, etc.) for the purpose of moving large and heavy items safely and effectively.
  • Executes proper knife handling skills and safely operates all food processing equipment.
  • Promptly reports necessary equipment repairs, food quality, or shortage problems to the DC Manager.
  • Knows and complies consistently with stated standard portion sizes, quality standards, kitchen rules, recipe specifications, policies, and procedures.
  • Handles, stores, labels, and rotates all products correctly and per applicable state laws.
  • Monitors and records food temperatures.
  • Safely performs all job duties and follows all company safety policies and procedures, promptly reporting equipment and maintenance repairs to managers.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly workstation and follows COVID-19 standard sanitizing, disinfecting, or cleaning procedures. 
  • Participates in monthly all staff meetings. 
  • Completes all other assigned duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Six (6) months of previous warehouse or food processing experience is required.
  • United States citizenship.
  • Must have open availability, including weekends and holidays. 
  • Must be a resident of the State of Illinois within 90 days of the hire date.
  • Must obtain a food handlers certification recognized by the State of Illinois within 30 days of employment.
  • Forklift operator certification
